Phil

Phil

Breed: Staffy
Gender: Male
Age: 3 Years
Location: Cheshire
Rehomed: Nationwide

PHIL HAS NOW BEEN REHOMED.

Three year old Staffy Phil arrived at the RSPCA for rehoming several months ago. Phil is a healthy, bright dog but his eyesight is very impaired so is classed as blind but he can see shapes and movement. The RSPCA are having a difficult time finding this lovely boy a home - can you help? Phil is kenelled in Nantwich, Cheshire.

Phil is a very chunky traditional Staffy, absolutely gorgeous and so very cuddly. Plus he is a very friendly and affectionate boy and he copes with his disability extremely well. You don't need blind dog experience (although that would be the ideal) as Phil's fosterer has never had a blind dog and she has not had any problems at all. In fact, she said out of all the dogs she has fostered Phil has been the easiest! Initially he bumped into things, then once he knew where everything was bingo!

Phil is looking for an understanding owner who will give him the time to settle into his new environment and gain his trust. He needs a home without too many obstacles where there are no major roads nearby (he wouldn’t suit a built up urban area).

Phil needs to be the only pet as he isn't keen on other dogs. The RSPCA would consider a home with older children who respect the fact that Phil is blind. But a calm environment would be ideal with plenty of cuddles and tummy rubs!

Phil's fosterer has been playing various games especially designed for blind dogs which he loves and he has very quickly learnt to ‘roll over’ on command. His party trick is that he can open doors so you may wake up with him sharing your bed of a morning!

So please don't let his blindness put you off, he is a wonderful dog with so much love to give.

The RSPCA Macclesfield South East Cheshire and Buxton Branch cares for, rescues and rehomes animals in Cheshire and Derbyshire. Like all local RSPCA branches it is a separate charity which though under the umbrella of the national RSPCA headquarters, is not centrally funded.
