Roxy is a beautiful 4 year old Rottweiler who arrived at RSPCA Macclesfield in Cheshire because her owner was emigrating to Kuwait. Roxy has a semi-long wavy coat which is quite rare but there is such a thing as a long haired Rottie! Can you give this gorgeous girl a home?
Roxy is a loving, loyal, giving dog and a joy to have around. Roxy is used being walked off lead and her recall is very good. On lead she can be strong so wears a canny collar. She travels well but drools alot! Roxy is used to countryside living and would not suit a built up or busy area. The RSPCA would consider a home with another dog but because of her size, Roxy cannot live with children or cats.
The RSPCA have invested in a Rottie experienced behaviourist in order to improve Roxy's behaviour when greeting strangers which they believe is a combination of nervousness, insecurity and protectiveness, all because she has not been properly socialised by previous owners (when she was young she was shut up 24/7). They have already seen an improvement.
Roxy will need to be rehomed to an experienced Rottie owner who is willing to visit her a couple of times to bond. The RSPCA know this will limit her chances of finding a home but hopefully a true Rottie lover will make the effort for her as she is worth it! She is an obedient dog who knows various commands, enjoys being groomed, loves bones, fruit and ginger biscuits. She also loves cuddly toys, balls and having a good play. Feedback from her foster home has been very positive!
Roxy has been spayed, vaccinated, received worm and flea treatment and is microchipped. The RSPCA will consider rehoming Roxy anywhere in the UK.
The RSPCA Macclesfield South East Cheshire and Buxton Branch cares for, rescues and rehomes animals in Cheshire and Derbyshire. Like all local RSPCA branches it is a separate charity which though under the umbrella of the national RSPCA headquarters, is not centrally funded.
