This gorgeous Rottweiler is named Barney and is approximately 4 years old – he came to ALPET Animal Rescue in South Wales from the local council dog pound and very little is known about his history. Unfortunately he has been with the animal rescue centre for quite a while now and can’t wait to meet his new owners! Barney really does not enjoy living in a kennel environment and is beginning to lose weight.
As you can see from his photos, Barney is a big strong boy and if he feels insecure he responds in the only way he knows – he growls! Naturally this can be intimidating for the inexperienced owner and so a confident, responsible and experienced Rottweiler owner is an absolute must.
Barney can show aggression to the other male Rottweilers in the animal shelter so will need careful handling when he goes to his new home. Barney is a powerful dog with no known history so cannot be rehomed to a household with children.
Barney is currently living at ALPET Animal Rescue, an animal shelter run by Linda and Tony in South Wales with the help of Christine at CARA Animal Rescue. ALPET Animal Rescue also acts on behalf of the local council as a dog pound for strays and they have many dogs seeking new homes, including the more difficult breeds to rehome such as German Shepherds and Rottweilers.
ALPET will consider rehoming Barney anywhere in the UK. A home visit will be required and the shelter undertakes to have Barney back should encounter any problems with this handsome boy.
